I Believe in Christ

By December 25, 2015 No Comments

As much as I love Christmas songs and am totally okay with singing them immediately after Halloween, I don’t really mind when I am in a ward that does’t sing them at all. I have moved around a lot and have been in quite a few wards and only one hasn’t sang Christmas songs around Christmas time.

Initially I thought it was really weird. I wanted to sing Christmas songs! Butt the more I thought about it, the more I realized that every song I sang in sacrament meeting was a Christmas song – a song about Christ. And I thought I’d share¬† my most-loved Christmas song of all time, a song that we sing often in Sacrament meeting throuughout the year. A song that details own testimony of the savior, His birth, life, ministry, death, and current life.

I Believe in Christ
By Bruce R. McKonkie

I believe in Christ; he is my King!

With all my heart to him I’ll sing;

I’ll raise my voice in praise and joy,

In grand amens my tongue employ.

I believe in Christ; he is God’s Son.

On earth to dwell his soul did come.

He healed the sick; the dead he raised.

Good works were his; his name be praised.

I believe in Christ; oh blessed name!

As Mary’s Son he came to reign

‘Mid mortal men, his earthly kin,

To save them from the woes of sin.

I believe in Christ, who marked the path,

Who did gain all his Father hath,

Who said to men: “Come, follow me,

That ye, my friends, with God may be.”

I believe in Christ–my Lord, my God!

My feet he plants on gospel sod.

I’ll worship him with all my might;

He is the source of truth and light.

I believe in Christ; he ransoms me.

From Satan’s grasp he sets me free,

And I shall live with joy and love

In his eternal courts above.

I believe in Christ; he stands supreme!

From him I’ll gain my fondest dream;

And while I strive through grief and pain,

His voice is heard: “Ye shall obtain.”

I believe in Christ; so come what may,

With him I’ll stand in that great day

When on this earth he comes again

To rule among the sons of men.

I especially love the part about standing. I believe in Christ; so come what may, With him I’ll stand in that great day.” I believe in Christ and so I believe all the parts of His gospel, including that great part about the Plan of Salvation that He made possible through His death and resurrection.

And I am loving my responsibility as a mom to teach these truths to my daughter so that whatever happens or doesn’t happen in her life she can also sing my favorite Christmas song anytime of the year and feel the peace the Savior brings.
